I think it's great Linus is going to do a review of the Surface 3, products from a manufacturer that combine their own OS and Hardware are few and far between. This is what makes the Surface 3 such an intriguing product in my mind. Microsoft is clearly aiming for apple, and say what you will (fanboys), the reason macbooks are so great is because the OS and hardware is from the same company. While I'm not a fan of Windows 8, will the hardware make the software? That's my burning question that I want Linus to answer. Is windows 8 bad because manufacturers can't get it right? Is windows 8 actually a terrific OS on a machine designed for it. I feel Linus's review process of actually using the product in his life will answer this question.

What are your thoughts? Third attempt for the perfect product to make a perfect OS?

btw I use linux, windows, and osx

On an engineering level, it is great, but honestly it doesn't mean that people will buy it because of the price...

Being more expensive and less powerful that the MacBook Air will really not make it sell better. Of course it has a better display and touch, but just wait for Apples move in a few weeks.

What I like about the SP's is the performance. Compared to other tablets/ultrabooks they are really fast (I think). They also did a good job with the battery life (considering its size).

What bothers me is that you can't open/fix anything on them. At all. Also they are advertised as machines for working. Without a VGA port I wish you good luck with presenting anything anywhere on a beamer...  :(

I'm curious about how flexible the keyboard will be, it doesn't seem very solid to me on the pictures.

PS: I use Windows 8.1 (Pro) on a TaiChi 21 (I think this convertible is still the best way to experience this OS) and in my opinion it just didn't get better at all. It sucks as a tablet-OS (~no Games, bad for browsing,..) and the Modern UI wasn't really an improvement for the desktop experience. I think the only good thing at Windows 8 is, that is is really fast even on slow Hardware.
