I’m looking to upgrade my pc but it’s quite old now I was looking for a gpu and cpu combo but I’m limited due to my motherboard compatibility it is a Msi a320m pro-m2 v2

 

if there are any cpus that will still be able to compete with modern games could you recommend one thanks.

An A320m can handle a 5700x3D perfectly fine, which have been going on sale for $200 USD. Regarding GPU, it depends on your budget, but just stay away from anything with a 8x slot like the RX 6600/7600 or RTX 4060/ti. PCIe 4.0 support for those is highly recommended for maximum performance, so at something like the RX 6700/6750 XT or RTX 3060 12GB or RTX 4070. RX 7700 XT might be at a decent price now a days too.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother trying a drop in upgrade then, so you'd be either buying a new AM4 board to combo with a new CPU, or jumping platforms.
