Ok I hadn’t thought of that possibility… what would be my best option now to get it running? Thanks for your help, it’s greatly appreciated! 😊

If the bios needs an update, you will need to either

1) borrow a friend's CPU like a Ryzen 5 7600 which would be compatible.

2) go to a local shop that would charge a few bucks to do the flash in-house with a loaner CPU

3) contact gigabyte support and send it in via the manufacturer warranty for an update.

Usually gigabyte boards say what BIOS version you've got on the box itself. Are you able to find that?

Hi

Today I’ve assembled my new PC:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 8500G

  • Gigabyte B650M D3HP

  • 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance 5600 DDR5 (CMK32GX5M2B5600C40W)

  • Lexar NM710 1TB M.2 SSD

  • Nvidia RTX 3060ti (from previous build)

  • Antec VP500P Plus (500w PSU from a few builds ago)

When I turn on the system, the CPU fan attempts to spin but turns off after half a second. That patterns repeats as long as the system is turned on. Video: https://www.mediafire.com/file/jaqad1effd42skz/20240527_211710000_iOS.MOV/file

What I’ve already did:

  • cleaning and reseating the RAM

  • booting with just one RAM module

  • seating the RAM in other benches

  • reattaching all the ATX and CPU power cable

  • checking the CPU on bend pins

  • reattaching and reconnecting the CPU cooler

  • calculating the TDP (which gave 392w) for this system to ensure that my PSU isn’t so much underpowered that it turns itself off

Still, the system doesn’t boot. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks a lot in advance!

most likely the CPU is too new for this motherboard and the BIOS version can't see it

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Look on the Motherboard, are any of the EZ Debug lights lit? (Ie) CPU, RAM, VGA, BOOT? This will narrow down the issue.

Remove the nVidia GPU and use the onboard HDMI. Do you see the Gigabyte logo? Can you boot into Setup (Bios)?

Your PSU is underpowered for this setup. I would suggest getting a new PSU 750W or better like 850W or 1000W.

As stated, update the Bios from their web site https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B650M-D3HP-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

If you do not see any EZ Debug lights and the computer is still not booting, then Clear the CMOS

The mobo was apparently still on the first version BIOS. It hasn’t got EZ debug lights and I wasn’t able to boot into BIOS. Today, I went into a local computer shop where they did a CPU swap, updated the BIOS and after that the motherboard was able to detect my 8000 series Ryzen. “Fun” fact: the stock AMD cooler also was DOA 🙃

Nevertheless: problem solved! Thanks Fasouceome and spunk.funk! Greatly appreciated!
