Hi guys,

i'm seeing a lot of small businesses using Microsoft Office 365 Family (installed on upto 6 devices). This works out at just £80/$101 dollars a year.

Not sure if this is the best way to do things in terms of licensing as it does give them word, excel etc desktop apps as well as 1TB OneDrive storage.

When looking on the Microsoft website at subscriptions it's showing £30/$37.95  per user per month for an E3 license (seems extremely expensive).

I know each year another 365 family license is being purchased to renew for another 12 months.

Not sure what it looks like in your region but in germany there is a "small businesses" tab at the top of microsoft.com showing options at 5,90€ per user per month for the office applications.

E3 seems overkill for small business. Those are Enterprise licenses.

And I agree with Needfuldoer that using a familiy license moost likely breaks licensing terms anyways.

It's against TOS
According to the Microsoft Services Agreement Section 14 Subsection H Paragraph I:
Microsoft 365 Family ... is for your personal, noncommercial use, unless you have commercial use rights under a separate agreement

The thing is that MS doesn't really make much money off software for home users. Some, sure, but the majority of their revenue comes from B2B sales. That's why it's way cheaper to get the Home/Family versions of their products
