PC crashes while gaming and shows random solid colors

Hey All!

Recently upgraded my pc specs from 6th gen i3 ddr3 to 12th gen i5 ddr4. Was planning to upgrade my gtx 960 2gb gpu later but in the new system, whenever I use any gpu intensive games or apps, pc randomly crashes and shows solid colors, the pc remains on until i manually reboot it.

I have re checked all software updates and even installed new driver after removing them using DDU.

Is my gpu not compatible or my 550W 80+ bronze PSU at fault here? I am also planning to upgrade to RTX 3060 12 GB version later.

Any help or suggestion would be very helpful

Thanks

Does your CPU have integrated graphics? If so, try them in games to see if the issue still appears. If not, the GPU is faulty.

Hmm, I would still expect it to be the GPU

Try running a CPU intensive task like Cinebench or Prime 95 to stress test that. Might as well do some memory tests as well to rule that out

Yeah probably the GPU then, is it overheating?

no strangely,
only when any graphic intensive thing comes up, it just crashes.

Weird

I mean it is quite old and failure is inevitable
