I am currently in the process of modding my HAF 912 + so that I can fit my water cooling equipment in. I am going to try and fit my 360mm rad in the front and then my 240mm rad up top.

I have taken the hard drive cages out of the front of the case and also the 5.25" drive bays which has left me ample room int the front of the case for my 360mm radiator. I think I am going to have a bit of an issue fitting my 240mm rad up top as there is not much clearance but I do have a pretty thin rad so hopefully it will fit.

I am also planning on going with a emerald green and black theme as I managed to get a 250ml bottle of Mayhems X1 UV Emerald Green concentrate which was never released but a Mayhems representative gave away a few bottles on another forum. This means that I want to paint some of the case. The one place I have decided to paint so far is the mesh on the front of the case and so I have started sanding that, is there any other places on the case that you think I should I paint.

The main issue I have with this build is that my motherboard is the MSI z77a G45 which has a blue colour scheme and of course that will not do, but I do not want to buy a new motherboard. I found this:

http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=44299&page=10

which is about a guy painting all of the heatsinks and pci-e lines on a G55 by hand. Is the only way of doing of this is there another quicker way?

My rig: i5 2500k, MSI Z77A G45, Gainward GTX 980 Phantom, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, OCZ ZT series 750W PSU, 1TB HDD, 800D, fully water cooled. I am currently working on modding my HAF 912+ to fit a custom loop, here is the build log: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/165963-project-viridis-water-cooled-haf-912/

you can do it, however if you paint over a pin on the PCIe slot, you will have issues later and you will end up cleaning the pins with a needle.

The heatsinks are easier to paint, go for that and get some PCIe covers, I've seen them before, they are plastic caps that go on the slots. However I don't really know where you can get them. Then leave the slot where the GPU sits uncovered, cards are huge and will cover the slot from sight.

Ok thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure about painting them anyway

Look for PCIe covers, or dust covers. They are mainly made to prevent dust from entering the slots you don't use, but they come in different colors and can match the aesthetics you are looking for.

I've seen many people painting their heatsinks. just get a high quality paint and add a thin coat on the areas you want to paint, this way you don't suffocate it too much, even with the paint, the heat will transfer.

As for the ram slots, you might find some covers; if not, just paint the edges of the colored slots with a really thin brush and then place your ram on those slots, so you cover the front of it.

Ok thanks will look out for them.

Are there any other mods that I could do do to this case? I am already planning a custom window as the one you can buy has a stupid place for a fan which blocks all of the view into the case.

The thing that really kills it for me with the HAF 912 is the front panel, maybe painting the mesh and making it so there are no 5"25 bays and only fan mounting spots would make the case look much better.

Well that is the plan. Just spent about an hour sanding the paint off the mesh and preparing it to priming and I have to got it the point that I am happy with it now. This is what it looks like before priming:

Sanding

After doing some measurements I am pretty certain I am not going to be able to fit the 240mm radiator up top with fans all inside the case as there is only 50mm of room. My radiator is 30mm thick and my fans are 25mm so it is not going to work. So my only option that I can think of is a fan shroud. Is there any other option or is that it?
