my friends budget is $600 

he doesnt need a montor or any peripherals and he would like windows 7

he plans on playing games like garrys mod

I think AMD would be better in this case because it has more cores, even though Intel processors utilize each core more efficiently. However, more cores are better in the long run for gaming.

i would suggest a apu at this price but then again i always think cad before usd and include a os every time
