SSD Questions

Macky029

Hello, just wanted to seek some more info on how to better use ssds.

I have a laptop with a gen 4 ssd that came with it and a 2nd slot that is only gen 3. I am planning to buy a gen 4 drive for said slot since gen 4 is cheaper from where I am anyways.

1. Would there be a downside if I move the original ssd (the one with the OS) to the gen 3 slot and have the OS be ran from there while the games/files go on the gen 4 slot?

2. Should I move the OS onto the better/newer drive I'm planning to buy and move the original one to the gen 3 slot?

Or should I just keep the drives on what slot they are and just play games out of that new drive running on backwards compatibility?

I do not move or have any large files so I guess speed doesn't matter much, I'm just running short on storage space. I just do not want to lose any potential benefits I could've gained by not asking competent people.

You won't notice a difference at all, as they will both perform in Gen 3 mode far far far above anything you'll need from them.

Gen 4 boot vs Gen 3 boot - no difference

Gen 4 gaming vs Gen 3 gaming - no difference

No combination of Gen 4, Gen 3, Boot, Gaming will produce any real world noticeable difference.

Thank you so much for responding so quickly, saved me a lot of effort cause I originally planned on going for the 2nd option. Glad I asked, thank you!
