I have a Lenovo Y27q 20 that I do everything on and want to get a second monitor.  I never thought I would want a dual monitor setup, but I'm finding I'm tired of alt + tabbing on projects lately.

Does it really matter what I get or should I get a monitor with similar specs?

Thank you!

After saying for a long time I dont need a second monitor, I dont see myself living without one now..

Its world changing.

It doesn't really matter what monitor you get.  I use an 32'' 1440p 240hz monitor as main and a 24'' 1080p 144hz monitor as 2nd monitor and it works without any issues. I wanted a 144hz monitor even for the secondary monitor as going back to 60hz would be tough.

If you want to make it look like having two screens and moving apps in between more "even" looking then getting the same monitor is the choice. However, if you don't care about that and just want an extra monitor for productivity then a reliable 60hz monitor gets the job done imo.

P.S for gaming or 3d stuff a higher refresh rate is better.

Depends on what you can tolerate. For most people it doesn't matter, but for me I'm quite picky.

I tried two monitors with different PPI, main monitor 34 inch 1440p ultrawide & secondary 24 inch 1080p, but couldn't stand it after a year.

I tried different refresh rate, main monitor 144hz secondary 60hz, but for some reason secondary monitor micro-stutters and the solution is having same refresh rate as main monitor.
