The death of my hard drive (10 years)

I’ve had my WD blue 1TB for about 10 years now it’s been in 4 computers and has served me very well, I am not sad it is dead I’m happy for its life. In all seriousness it’s lasted 10 years which I’m pretty sure is practically unheard ofIMG_0473.thumb.jpeg.aacd63bb436b6abb3cbe2ea9595c2e5d.jpeg

Not unheard of, I have drives older than that that still work.
It depends on how much activity they saw during their lifetime.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

I've got several with over 10 years of flying hours, in fact.

I made a video about this same model of drive, it was very unhappy, and it had some platter damage as well:

Despite the condition of this one, i still somehow managed to get a smart readout on it.

Also check out this one:

Which despite having the click of death, i was still able do do some benchmarks on it.

Thats a pretty long life for a WDBlue drive, so grats on that but agree with the others def not unheard of. I have a WD Black 750GB sata 2 thats still going as a backup and i have a Maxtor Diamond Max 1GB drive that still works and is ancient. I dont use it but its a nice to have thing for my collection.
