New build advice

Budget (including currency): £2200 (British Ppunds)

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming only

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Putting together a new build and looking for any advice/feedback. I've been PC gaming for years but this is my first time not using a system builder and building myself, want to make sure I'm not making any mistakes.

This will be used exclusively for gaming, on a 27" 1440p monitor.

I am in budget, but if there are any changes that would be better made, like going with a i7 over an i5 and changing something else to balance costs, I'm open to suggestions.

Admittedly some of the choices are for aesthetics, like the white gpu/fans and cooler.

CPU: Intel Core i5-13600KF (Raptor Lake) Socket LGA1700 Processor £289.99

RAM:  TeamGroup Delta RGB 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 PC5-49600C38 6200MHz Dual Channel £112.99

GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER TUF OC White 16GB GDDR6X £899.99

Storage: Crucial P3 PLUS 2TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 4.0 NVMe Solid State Drive £112.99

PSU: Lian Li SP850W SFX Modular 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - White £144.95

CPU Cooler: Lian Li Galahad II Trinity SL-INF AIO 360mm ARGB CPU Water Cooler - White £169.99

Additional Fans :Lian Li UNI SL120 INF Addressable RGB White 120mm Fan Triple Pack £89.99

Total:£2160.82.

Thanks folks

Did you mean to buy an SFX PSU? I don't think you need one with the O11D.

The AIO is way overkill, I'd get a white peerless assassin for < £40.

The P3 Plus is QLC, with low write endurance, I'd switch to a TLC drive like SN770 or SN580.

The 4070 Ti Super is nearly the price of a 4080 Super.

Here's my starting point... it was well under £2000 with a Montech all-white case.... I think you can still swap in the Galahad cooler if you must, but it's pointless expense on a well setup build with an efficient CPU.

Even managed to get a RTX4080Super in on the budget 😉

For pure gaming it would be madness not to go for a 7800X3D.... it beats the i9 14900K is almost all gaming benchmarks and generates HALF the heat, with half the power consumption.

Here's a balance between "sensible" and what I think you want (OTT white build, OTT cooler, etc).... although I do like the LianLi cases myself 🙂

Consider the 7900XTX as an alternative.... but at the top of the budget range, the RTX4080Super is a very solid and not quite as stupidly bad value as the rest of the RTX cards, so I've kept it in.

You can downgrade the PSU a little to get it below £2200, but I thought I'd leave it in considering it suited the rest of the OTT build... and only 1% over budget 😄

The 7800X3D is the optimal CPU choice for this use case.

If the budget will stretch, the O11D Evo RGB offers a bit more bling.

Consider an ATX 3.x PSU with native support for the 12VHPWR power connector used by the GPU.
