This should be the finished build then in that case

Budget (including currency): $1800 usd

Country: usa

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly story games such as assassins creed, jedi survivor, and some other aaa titles with occasional rocket league and fortnite.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): i currently have a very budget build with a ryzen 5 5500 and a rx6600. and one 1080p monitor, im also looking to it in a 4k monitor at that budget but if that's not possible i have a 32" 4k tv i can use until i save up.

i have no preference between amd intel nvidia etc.

What board do you have currently? 4K is not super CPU intensive, if you have a decent B550 board then just throw ~$250 at a 5700X3D and put the rest towards a new GPU (likely new PSU with it depending on what you have rn) and a nice display.

If you wanted to save quite a bit of money for a really good monitor, take either of the last 2 options (edited so refresh)

ok, so ill upgrade to a 5800x3d and i shouldnt need a new storage or cooler, at least ive heard that you rarely need lots of cooling for high end amd, i have a 240mm aio and a way over kill wd black drive that a friend gave me. and then i have around 500 for a new display, thats great, thank you!

No harm in going 850W, gives you leeway for fans and any additional storage you might need, plus PSUs are most efficient at around 50% load.

finally what cooler do you have, might be worth splashing out on a phantom spirit, super cheap and best in class performance

It is, indeed, a good cooler.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
