when i search up what ram does on google it says it gives faster boot time.

 

also whats the max you can go on ddr3 cuz google says its capped at 16gb

More ram lets you have more programs and other data in ram. 

 

Ram doesn't affect boot time, and more ram can make it slightly slower to boot as it has to initalize all the ram. 

 

The system limits the ram, not the Type, I know of systems with > 1TB of DDR3 ram.

Ram is the short term memory of your computer. The more of it you have, the more your cpu can react to quickly. Also it’s better when it’s faster.

More RAM means programs can have more of themselves immediately available. For example, a game may not need to go to storage as often when the map moves. 

 

More RAM may also allow the o/s and drivers to use larger buffers leading to less i/o which typically translates into higher performance.

The hardware can also be limiting. DDR3 memory modules have a maximum size of 8GB and Intel DDR3 desktop platforms were limited to at most 4 sticks for a maximum of 16GB.
