well the beta bios does mention it improves nvme compatibility, and since you are having a nvme compatibility issue, I would just try that.

Hello,

I ran out of ideas what to do. I have 2 NVMe disks for a long time(both are Samsung 970 EVO 250GB). I need more space soo i added Samsung 990 PRO 2TB and my BIOS is not detecting it....it is not about the slots because i switched slot for other NVMe and it worked perfectly

Any ideas of known issues? All i can find is just the problem with all NVMe disk not specificaly one.

Thanks

where did you buy the 990 from? is the seller reputable and does it seem genuine?
There is really not much else to do if it does not work and another nvme ssd works in the same hole.
If you don thave any other system or tools to test it with, then I would return it and get another.

There's some PCIe line sharing between SATA and M.2. So if you've got some SATA drives too then it explains it.

NVMe is from legit store(one of the best stores if not the best in my country). The problem is that same NVMe is working on other PC normaly and is detected

oh, huh
and so you have two 970 and swapped one out for the 990? or you put the 990 in the third slot?
Maybe take all ssds out and put just the 990 in the top slot and see if it is detected in bios

if its the case maybe the board supports only two nvme at a time with the last slot falling back to sata m.2
I would check but asrock site wont load the manual pdf for some reason for me. but it would be here https://download.asrock.com/Manual/Z390 Taichi Ultimate.pdf

Still, it seems to me you can't use 3 M.2 and 1 SATA.

Edit : you can't use SATA3_0, SATA3_1, SATA3_3, SATA3_4 nor SATA3_5 but you probably can use SATA3_2, SATA3_6 and SATA3_7

I would still recommend as a basic troubleshooting step to pull out the two 970 and put the 990 in the top slot just to see if it shows up or not.
Like that will pretty much prove an incompatibility or not

I would like to point out, that SSD can sometimes be not recognized in uefi/bios if not initiated earlier, or some csm/bbs setting ( depends on the bios ).
and show up in windows device menager just fine.

I agree with the others, pull out one 970 evo, and put 990 pro in its place.

and I would put SATA HDD in SATA3_2 port, as it’s the only native chipset SATA port, that is not shared anywhere.

well the beta bios does mention it improves nvme compatibility, and since you are having a nvme compatibility issue, I would just try that.

your views on beta anything are pretty understandable, but when it comes to a motherboard bios, its very low risk.
It's actually pretty cool that they even went as far as to try to correct this for a 6 year old motherboard.
I would actually just recommend contacting asrock about it, maybe they can provide any extra info on it or a estimate of a main release.
