Budget (including currency): £300

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Capture Card Streaming 1080p60 (Elgato HD60S+ with PS5)

Other details: Streaming Fortnite

Hi there,

I have a friend who is currently using the following specs to stream using a capture card:

I7-2600

16gb DDR3 -1600

1tb 7200rpm HDD

Integrated Graphics

He is looking to upgrade, and has a budget of £300, so I am looking to recommend the following specs

Ryzen 5 3600

16gb DDR4 -3200

1tb NVME SSD (M.2 PCIE Gen 3)

GTX 960 4gb

Will this be suitable for streaming capture card gameplay (as well as webcam) at 1080p 60fps, and would this suit CPU x.264 encoding, or GPU NVENC encoding?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

My personal recommendation would be to keep the 1tb HDD from the old PC, then get a 256 or 512gb ssd.

Also see if you can reuse the Case or Power Supply, you might be able to cut out those costs which could get a better GPU or CPU. I believe that the cpu and gpu will be able to stream but I don't have much experience.

P.s. If someone else recommends something different, listen to them, they most likely have more experience than me.

Hi King Minor,

I appreciate your feedback and honesty!

Unfortunately, he is currently using a Dell Optiplex System from 2009, so the small form factor case would be too small, the 250w unrated power supply would be struggling, and the hard drive health is below 75%, so I'm not sure I'd trust putting any data on it unfortunately 😩

Then yeah what you got is probobly the best. Consider looking for a used GPU or CPU if the person is ok with that.
