2 monitors on 1 HDMI port on a laptop?

How can I get 2 monitors ona a laptop with 1 HDMI? is there some sort of splitter like an internet switch?

Can a laptop with usb-c 3.1  gen1 do FHD via usb-c hdmi dongle?

thank you in advance.

USB-C supports a max of 3840×2160@30Hz. Could probably run a splitter usb-c to 2x hdmi at 1440p 60hz no problem.

Edit: Looked up a forum and someone had one monitor at 1440p but one monitor capped at 1080p. Probably just connect one via the hdmi port and 1 via the usb-c

I edit my messages more than not –

Probably some dude on the internet

On a laptop like that, especially seeing as it has an HDMI port already, good chance the USB-C port does not feature DP alt mode. So, that just leaves one external display via your hdmi port.

For future generations:

1. HDMI splitters only mirror the image. They don't give independent viewing.

2. There is a device with  onboard graphics: USB 3.0 auf Dual HDMI Adapter - 1x 4K 30Hz & 1x 1080p - Externe Video- und Grafikkarte - USB-A auf HDMI Dual Monitor Display Adapter - . Works on any USB 3 (DP or not) and gives you 2 extra monitor with independent viewing.

3. USB-C port needs to have the DP icon next to it. It indicates wether or not it support video over usb.
