Has YouTube given up?

Or am I just a lucky individual? (or perhaps business is booming?)

For whatever reason I decided to turn off my adblock when I was watching YouTube,

and for some reason, countless videos have been watched, no ads.. what? Where are they? I thought I was on a website owned by company that would intentionally change/update it's "code" or whatever to mess with adblock's function and allow ads to display regardless before the adblock updated

But no, I even right now, tried few random videos, lot of which are most likely suitable for advertisement, I tried Markiplier video, no ads, I tried Despacito, no ads, I tried several BTS official videos.., no ads...

I tried opening another instance of Firefox, the adblock is off by default on YouTube, it remembers, but YouTube, still no ads for videos at least. There are the fake video ads placeholders that you can accidentally click, but no ads on the video itself.

This is giving me mixed emotions, it's surprising, relieving and scary/worrying at the same time...

What exactly is wrong? Well this event is comparable to an event where Nvidia would press all on all their GPUs and put a 50% price reduction on all of their GPUs including RTX 4090... - that type of weirdness

Just tested this for myself on a private Firefox session.

4/6 videos from the trending page had pre-roll ads. Seems like some good luck on your end or an extension that you have left on.

not sure what extensions, the only extension that could be doing something is the DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials extension
