Hi, I've recently turned in my cpu to the reseller because of the red light on the motherboard turning on and my PC not booting. I've checked the pins and power cables, is it more common that it actually is the cpu than the motherboard that is faulty when the light turns on?

Is this a new build or was it working and just died on you? What are the full system specs?

The CPU Debug LED(red CPU light) can be caused by a number of things besides just a bad CPU. A bad motherboard, Ram, as well as an incomptible bios can cause the CPU Debug LED to come on and the computer to not post. Typically it is recommended to try a bios update and testing the ram prior to jumping to CPU or motherboard.

The build is around one year old and had been running fine. I was in the Cs lobby when the pc went back to lock screen and locked any movement. After that I restarted the pc and the light was on. Aren't the other LEDs supposed to light up if it is a faulty ram?

The store recommended me to turn in the cpu for service and then the motherboard if nothing could be found on the cpu:/
