Hello everyone,

I have ordered a set of Lian li fans and found this on all the packaging?!?!! Do I have to worry about handling the fans?

I wouldn't worry - those labels are on literally everything, so they're not even concerning to me.

Everything containing these chemicals has to carry that label to be legally sold in the state of California. Nobody's going to make California-specific packaging, so consumers everywhere get that disclaimer.

Unless you're eating those fans for dinner every day, don't worry about it. (And it's always a good idea to wash your hands before you eat, regardless.)

They don't make computer parts out of Agent Orange. In the case of consumer electronics, that's an "out of an abundance of caution" warning. (Probably due to the chemicals used to make the plastic and wire insulation more than anything else.)

Look at the packaging for things like extension cords and decorative lights next time you're at the store. They'll have Prop 65 warnings, too.

My problem with the P65 warning labels is that they are basically crying wolf too much. Don't get me wrong, those chemicals are on the list for a reason, but as far as I can tell they don't really account for amounts or levels of exposure.

So in the end most people will ignore it and in cases where you'd really want to pay attention to this, then you will be numbed down too much.

Exactly, by labelling everything "dangerous" in some way it just makes the warnings useless  and eventually hide the *real* dangerous stuff

That's what I call loss of common sense

As I have now finally understood:

As people have said here, either the reference is just "I'm putting this on so I don't have to test it and I can ship it to california" or there really is something that is carcinogenic in "california" in these items. But I don't think that applies to most items (in my case, for example, PC fans)

I think as long as you do that with said products like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmcWMjBpYBU. You are fine.
