Budget (including currency): 1.500€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cities Skylines II, LoL, CoD, Rocket League, GTA (VI?), occasional music production.

Other details Parts from my current machine that are still usable are included in my pcpartpicker list, please check the description there.

Hey everyone,

I was planning a new build, the first one on my own. I would love your advice to whether I made good choices with my very limited knowledge especially regarding CPUs. I don't plan on building it in the short future more like in about 3-6 months. I'm hoping for helpful feedback if I could have made better decisions and also explaining why my decisions were right, if that turns out to be the case.

Oh and also: I'm playing in 1440p resolution.

Thank you all so much for your time and effort.

Here is my list on pcpartpicker.

I'd change a lot of stuff here :

Better cooler, and I would replace the choked case

Faster RAM

Better board

A 7800XT will game as fine as a 4070 for less (RT excluded)

Beefier PSU, 550W is pretty low

First of all, thank you for your your time. I dont really get the reason for some of the changes though.

  • The faster RAM: I see that its faster but how much of a difference will that make? would I be able to tell apart these two RAMs when gaming?
  • The cooler: I'll just take your word for it, it's even cheaper.
  • What about the motherboard is better then the one I originally picked?
    • As far as I can tell it supports more memory (I'll never go above 64GB anyway though)
    • The WIFI is really cool, so wouldn't need my current WIFI Acces Card anymore.
    • It has one M.2 slot less, which is a bit of a bummer but not a tradgedy either.
    • The main point would result in more an newer USB 3 headers on the board if I interpret that correctly.
    • I'd like some context here as I am also willing to learn to make good choices by myself in the future.
  • Since I picked an RTX GPU with the intention to use RayTracing, I would much prefer to stick with that (Should have disclosed that earlier, sorry)
  • For the PSU I guess it is better to have a little more headroom for potential future upgrades. I get that, espacially when the increase in Power is relitively cheap
  • what is wrong with my case? I know it's not that pretty but in my current setup it can't be looked at anyway and I don't like the thought to throw away a case that is perfectly fine.

Please let me know what your thaoughts and reasons were, when you made those decisions, I'm sure there are aspects that, as a novice builder,  I just did not think of.#

Thank you ❤️
