Side mounting fans affecting GPU cooling?

I have two 140mm (reverse style) intake side fans, my GPU is fairly large and is vertically mounted. It lines up with the GPU exhaust so they are fighting against each other constantly. I was wondering how bad this is? Should I swap the fans out?

Here is what it looks like….

I believe linus actually had an issue with this in one of his videos, i forget which one but i remember seeing a "throwback" kinda thing recently in the $5K upgrade videos for kallmekris, but yes i believe this does cause a slight issue, if you have an exhaust at the back and 3 bottom intakes, you could turn these side fabs into exhaust and have 3 in from bottom and 3 out, cooling gpu better and keeping positive pressure if you run them slightly slower than the intakes

Not sure if there are any other fans in the case, but with an assumption from what i can see/guess, send us a pic of the entire setup and can maybe go from there and see what we can do

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX NITRO+

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

Case Fans: Fractal Prisma (120 x6, 140 x3) + 2x40mm fans

I have 4 exhaust and 5 intake (including those two 140s)

thatd be 3 in 6 out with a flip, seems very heavily negative, but up to you, it probably does cause a decent bit of turbulence and fighting between the fans, but if temps are fine, then, id say youre good to leave as is

People think more fans = better, but it really doesn't tend to work that way.

Side and top fans are really for radiators, or if you can't have intakes anywhere else.

You may find it runs cooler with them removed entirely, although I prefer positive pressure myself (more intake than exhaust) as it helps prevent air being sucked in awkward places where you can't put a dust filter as instead excess air gets pushed out of those places.

You haven't told us your temps...

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
