I think my CPU is dead, but I'm not 100% sure. So, basically, I ordered new parts: an ASRock B660M Pro RS, 12600KF, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and NVMe SSD. I installed everything, and I had a CPU and DRAM light. I fixed this by seating the CPU power connector right. Everything was looking good; the PC turned on and then shuts down. I immediately went to the BIOS to see if I could see temps. I saw the CPU at 98°C. Before fixing the CPU and DRAM issue, I was trying to fix it for about 2, maybe even 3 hours. I tried to push the CPU cooler down to get it closer to the CPU, and that worked. The CPU wasn’t overheating, but it was thermal throttling. Other than that, it was working. I installed Windows, Discord, and a couple of apps, spending maybe about an hour. The PC was still running in the 90s. After hours of it being on the 90s, I decided to turn it off to see if there was a way to improve the cooler. The cooler was garbage, by the way. I tried fixing that, then turned the PC on, and I got a new problem. I pressed the power button, the fans spun, but no display. I got a CPU and DRAM light, and the PC kept bootlooping. I tried everything for hours, reinstalling the MOBO and the CPU, literally everything. I have no spare parts to test if it's the CPU, which it probably is, considering what it's been through. So, what do you think it could be? I'm guessing the CPU just got fried, considering the max temps for a 12600KF is 80s to 100s. It probably seems so obvious it's the CPU, lol.

It sounds like you might have an issue with mounting pressure more than anything. Your cooler is not seated suitably if you’re getting 90’s at stock speeds. And poor cooler mounting can be affected by or can cause poor cpu socket contact.

Remove and resocket the cpu, properly mount the cooler. See if it starts.

Make sure your cooler has paste and no film on it.

It’s pretty hard to acutely cook a modern cpu to failure. More than likely if there was bad socket contact and just reseating everything doesn’t work, the board is more likely to have died than the cpu.

If it doesnt work just rma the board and cpu, might aswell get a z board or a b660m pg riptide if available

I've recently upgraded my cooling system, applied fresh thermal paste, and ensured everything was properly configured. However, I suspect the issue might be with the motherboard, in case it's not related to the CPU. I'm unsure about ASRock's RMA support compared to Intel's. Just to update you, I've already initiated the RMA process for the CPU.

Yes I did take the sticker off.

Pretty baffled how you could be getting 90c at idle if the cooler is mounted correctly.
