My computer suddenly shuts off. This happens randomly. I have to cut the power to be able to restart it I think the issue has to do with my motherboard, a Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX.

This happened constantly with bios is came with. It decreased in frequency when upgrading to F6 bios. But still happens random. Around 1-2 times per hour. Recently tried upgrading to bios F21, but problem persists. It seems the problem gets worse if I overclock the ram.

Interestingly it never happens if I do some resource intensive, e.g. running a video game. It only happens during lower-power work loads (e.g. writing a document, browsing the internet). It therefore seems to be a power issue, i.e. the motherboard e.g. not delivering enough power to the ram.I have tried changing the PSU -- that did not help.

Sounds like a PSU Failure to me, sometimes the low power circuits die.... Try to return your PSU under warrenty.

But first of all: TRY A DIFFRENT PSU before returning!!!

R7 7800X3D | RTX 4090 | 32GB 5200Mhz RAM | BeQuiet Dark Power 13 1000W | ASRock X670E Taichi | WD Blue SN570 2 TB | Samsung 960 Pro 1TB | FireCuda 2TB | 120 TB NAS |
