Hey guys

I'm planning on building a new mATX rig, the hardware and components i chose are :

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K ( Might overclock later )
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 2013 Edition
Motherboard:  Asus Z87 Gryphon C2
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 2x 4gb Low profil ( 1600 MHz )
Storage:  Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB ( Where the OS will be installed )
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda SSHD 2 to
Video Card:  Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II OC
Case:  Corsair Obsidian 350D Windowed
Power Supply: Corsair CX750M

The problem is that i am not really sure whether i should go for the 350D or the bitfenix prodigy M and if the PSU is powerful enough for there specs.

Any help or suggestion will be appreciated, Thanks :) .

Looks good. The PSU is more than powerful enough. The CX450m would work, but you could probably get the RM550 for the same price as the 750w and better efficency/hybrid fan support.

You could save some money on the hard drive and just get a regular one instead of an SSHD if it's just for storage though, since you'll get the snappiness of the OS from your SSD.

The airflow on that case must be amazing but i'd choose the 350D for the cable management. Thank you

I forgot to mention that i might add another Gtx 780 ( SLI ) so is that RM550 able to handle it ? Thanks

In that case something a 650w should work.

Normally it's around 350-400w with 1 card, and another would bump it up around 550-600w.

Cable management does not matter when there is no window.

But go with what pleases you.

550W is marginal for two GTX 780 IMO.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thanks guys =).

I have another problem now , i heard that the CX series have some coil whine issues, so i think about changing that PSU.

These are the PSUs i can afford, if of course the CX750M isn't reliable:

- EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 ( It's a new PSU from EVGA , 80+ Gold , Fully modular , 10y warranty but it's passive , can someone clear up the difference between passive and active please ? )

- EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B

- Cooler Master G750M ( 80+ Bronze , Semi-modular )

- Cooler Master VS  750W

- Be Quiet ! Pure Power L8

Thanks again

passive means the fan turns off under low load, that's good. go with the evga 750g2 it's really good.

THe SuperNOVA 750 G2 (220-G2-0750-XR) is built by Super Flower and highly rated. If you can pick up one of these for about what an 80+ Bronze CX cost, grab it.

Passive refers to the fact that like most other good psu, it only starts the fan when needed and ramps up the speed based on load/temperature.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thanks, I've also found a better motherboard from Asus for the same price and changed the GPU brand from Asus to EVGA. The final build will look like this :

CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 2013 Edition
Motherboard:  Asus Z87 Gryphon C2 Asus Z97M-PLUS
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 2x 4gb Low profil ( 1600 MHz )
Storage:  Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda SSHD 2 to
Video Card:  Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II OC EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked w/ ACX Cooler
Case:  Corsair Obsidian 350D Windowed
Power Supply: Corsair CX750M EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

  • 3 weeks later...

So i am back again with some changes and i'm not sure if it's the right choice to make or not. Since the devil's canyon i7-4790K is going to be released in the upcoming days i chose to rise my budget a bit so it'd be futureproof

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
CPU Cooler: Be quiet! Dark Rock 3 ( Better cooling and less noise )
Motherboard:  MSI Z97M Gaming ( Futurproof and handles the 4790K better than Z87 )
Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 2x 4gb Low profil ( 1600 MHz )
Storage:  Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB ( Where the OS will be installed )
Storage:  Seagate Barracuda SSHD 2 to
Video Card:  Not really sure if to pick the GTX 780 Gigabyte Ghz Edition ( it's almost similar to the 780 Ti but i'm afraid of artifacts and problems as seen on some forums and reviews ) or the EVGA GTX 780 OC Dual Classified ( Might add another one for SLI )
Case:  Corsair Obsidian 350D Windowed
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2

I need some help please since i can't RMA these components from where i live.
