I'm creating a HTPC on the cheap, just as a project, and so I can finally building in the silverstone milo ;)

I was just wondering if the AMD A4-4000 has enough grunt to play 1080p content flawlessly? and also play emulated games using MAME etc?

Or should I go up to something else in the FM2/FM2+ socket?

Thanks in advance guys!

Okay, it's only $20 more expensive I believe, so I'll go down that route.

It's pretty slow, I've used one before. It will playback hd content, but emulators is a no go for the most part.

At least my amd a6-3500 had no issues with 1080p content, but i would go with the latest one you can find, i think is the 6xxx series and get an a6 if you want better graphics than an a4 without having to pay the extra for the a8 series.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,
Corsair CX430M, Cooler Master Elite 343, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite
