GPU Bottlenecking

I didn't know whether to put this in the CPU or GPU forums. But anyway I'm planning on upgrading to the Intel i9 14900K as well as the MSI Pro b760-P DDR4 Motherboard, and I currently have a NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti that I'm not planning on upgrading anytime soon. Would I also need to upgrade my graphics card because it bottlenecking?

You need to seriously figure out why you're needing a 14900K paired with a 1660Ti.

 

The 14900K is a terrible gaming CPU choice, and if you need just the CPU strength for whatever you're doing... then the GPU doesn't matter.

 

But if this is a gaming machine, it's a horrible choice(s).

Please don't pair that chip with that motherboard, the VRM on that board is about as inadequate as you can get for that chip. You will get significantly worse performance from the 14900K if you're running that board because it will power throttle to keep the motherboard from catching fire. You would actually get better performance if you dropped down to a 14700K and spent that ~$100 on a better motherboard and memory kit. 

 

 

What are you doing with your system anyway, and what are you upgrading from? A "bottleneck" very much depends on what you're doing, since there's always a system bottleneck. If you're doing code compilation, the 1660 Ti is overkill, whereas if you're doing very GPU heavy games like The Last of Us or Starfield the 1660 Ti would be a massive bottleneck.

You have the fastest, most robust Intel CPU they make.   4090/4080 line or a 7900XTX.

 

Why are you getting the 14900K?

Because my current CPU of a i5 9400f is about to explode and is sitting at a whopping 100% at almost all times.

 

So let's say I would like to play Fortnite at 240 FPS which is CPU-based. Would it just be smarter to get something like the i7 14700K and save $200?
