Hey,

So about a couple of months ago, my games started freezing randomly while playing games. Nothing too annoying just some random small freezes that happen from time to time.

I didn't think much of it until I tried playing a game a month ago and it was unplayable. Multiple 5-10 second long freezes and such. I thought maybe my pc needed to be cleaned. I was able to clean the CPU but not the GPU (we don't have compressed air here in my country so the only thing I could use was a balloon pump thing you use for your camera). Then afterwards it started getting much worse. Other games that would load perfectly are now going on "not responding" for a bit before actually loading the title screen. For example, Genshin. Valorant takes me 5-10 mins to get past the intro screen and other games are having freezes as well. All where my gpu percentage goes from whatever it's at, to 1%. I tried reinstalling drivers, cleaning as much as I can, repairing system files, fragmenting my hard drives . Nothing has worked. What do I do.

Hi,

Before cleaning you should have checked your temps. No excess heat => no need to clean.

Maybe give us a list of your hardware ?

Sure thing:

Ryzen 2700x

RTX 2060 6GB Msi

16 GB RAM Corsair DDR4

Cooler-Master PSU (Unfortuantly dont remember which one exactly)

ASUS PRIME B450M-A Motherboard

I assumed it might have been because it wasnt clean...its beyond dirty because i have no way of getting the dust in between the parts. Vaccums are a big nono supposdly, and compressed air isnt a thing here so the most i could do was a general wipe of the outside.

258 SSD Kingston C Drive (Used for windows and essential programs only)

2 TB HDD BarraCuda 3.5 (Games and everything else)

Ok, check the SSD health with CrystalDiskInfo.

Did you try to optimise it using the Windows tool (next to the defrag command) ?

Did you try to flush the cache, not sure if you have a tool for that (I do) ?

How full is that drive ?

Could it be you get your RAM full ? do you leave browser tabs open and then some ?

Edit : that's weird 🙂 ! got the answer before the question

Sorry for the late reply,

I've optimised both drives and i think i flushed the cache. The C drive is 80% filled while the D drive is 75% full.

My RAM is alright most of the time. It's not full from what Windows says.

Thinking this might be a gpu issue, might have damged it or it cant keep up with the rest of the pc because of the dust inside...any thoughts are appreciated!

This could actually be a storage drive issue.
