Hello everyone,

For a long time i have been wanting a stream deck, but i dont stream. I was thinking about having it as a mute/unmute mic button or control my tv to switch to the hdmi source or have it control my smart home but is it possible to integrate any of that? But also I like the idea of a stream deck for opening games and performing other tasks but is it worth it? For the Elgato Stream Deck MK.2 Black its 165 AUD, I just lost my job but I want it but Im not sure if i should wait for more money or buy it to make my life easier. Is it a necessity or a waste of money? Will it be able to do any of the things listed?

BarRaider's SuperMacro plugin lets it emulate keystrokes and mouse actions. That opens up a lot of functionality.

On a couple of the LMG studio tour videos, some of the editors have Stream Decks set up as Premiere macro keyboards.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

The Stream Deck is basically a highly customizable and fancy set of macro keys. Anything you could do with macro keys on a keyboard can be done with a Stream Deck using plugins. So as long as you have software on your computer that can control your TV or other things in your smart home, and that software is able to be controlled by the keyboard alone, you can theoretically use a Stream Deck for that.

A way to test this out for your specific use case could be to see if you can set up keyboard combos to do those things. If you are able to do them with keyboard combos, then a Stream Deck should have no trouble with that.

I use my stream deck to control the OBS recording of my D&D game, but 99% of the time I just use it as a speeds and feeds display for my system stats. It's a fun, if expensive, toy
