Budget (including currency): Under $200 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Any and all modern games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I just got my very first gaming PC from a friend but it needs M.2 SSD Storage and more Ram.

My specs are as followed:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700k CPU @ 3.80GHz

Video Card: NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

Motherboard: MSI Mag B460 Tomahawk

Looking for decent resolution and at least 120FPS

My question is what 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD M.2 would you recommend? Preferably parts that I could get at microcenter tomorrow if possible.

I was thinking the (Inland QN322 1TB SSD NVMe PCle Gen 3.0x4 M.2 2280 3D NAND QLC Internal Solid State Drive) for the two M.2 slots and the (Crucial Pro 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 CL22 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit CP2K16G4DFA32A - Black) for the RAM?

Side question would be should I get two 1TB M.2s one for games and one for the OS? My friend said you should install games on a separate SSD than what the OS is on cause it will slow the pc down and i was just wondering if that is true 🙂

Any set of DDR4 3200 2x16GB CL16 is what you want. As far as the SSD goes look at the ADATA Legend 800 M.2.

So for the SSD does it not really matter if the games and OS are on the same m.2? Also wouldnt the DDR$ 3200 CL16 be weaker than the 3600 CL22 ones?

With your rather limited budget do you really need 32GB RAM ? 16GB is fine for most usages and will let you more money for SSD that also will last longer (as DDR4 is EoL)

Anyway do NOT get a CL22 kit, rather any 3200CL16

For the drives any cheap PCie3 or4 NVme will do, Crucial P3, Teamgroup MP33, but I don't know Inland drives

Having one or 2 drives won't change much daily experience but having 2 could be more practical if the other fails 😛

I don't believe you can overclock on B460, so your memory will be set to a maximum of 2933 regardless of what speed you purchase. A 3200 CL22 kit will be JEDEC standard (i.e. doesn't require XMP) and hopefully will have a 2933 profile programmed.

I probably don't NEED 32 gigs of ram but wanna future proof the build a bit. I feel like if i get it now then i can always focus on the SSD later? With that said ill take your word on not getting the CL22 kit!
