Fps problem in game

Well, for one, take off the FPS cap. It's not for people who want more frames, but people who want less. It's not going to help make yours more stable or anything

 

Is your display plugged into the GPU or the motherboard?

Your CPU might be at 50% overall, but I'll bet that the game can't use more than 4 threads at a time and those 4 threads are all pinned at 100% usage.

Check task manager while the game is running and look at the per thread graphs.

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.

He/Him - I'm a PhD student working in the fields of reinforcement learning and traffic control. Wouldn't that be 100% for a i5 6500? 4-core non hyperthreading.

 

Do you think this game would only be utilizing 2 cores?

Look at this video, cpu is utilized all threads almost identical while fps is 30-40

Oof, Idk enough about CPUs to discern why it's displaying 50% usage when all cores are maxed. Hopefully someone else does
