Hey everyone, new here and by no means am I a pro pc builder, ive done it several times but every one feels so different depending on components. So I just finished putting this together after spending way more time than it should have taken and second guessing myself all along the way. I plugged a windows 11 USB drive I made into the back USB, plugged everything in and turned it on. I never get a display, get no feedback other than eventually settling on a yellow light on the motherboard which the manual says means a ram issue if its accurate at this stage. When stores are open ill probably be trying to buy a couple more RAM sticks to test if the first are DOA but my current(working) PC has ddr4 which I believe the board only supports 5 so im out of luck there. I did try taking the sticks out, swapping their places and reseating them and I am using a2 and b2 as the manual indicates, I was hoping to get some knowledge from those a lot more experienced than I am and see if anyone has ideas. Thank you all, PC details below

The specs

Lian li Lancool III case

B760 gaming plus wifi motherboard

I7 13700k - LGA1700 socket CPU

Gigabyte rtx 4070ti gaming OC gpu

EVGA 850 GT 850watt PSU

32gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5(2x16)

Arctic liquid freezer II 360 AIO

Samsung 980 pro 2tb M.2

how long are you waiting before giving up.... 1st boot with intel DDR5 boards take ages... with memory training ..

when I built my i7-12700K Z690 build I thought I had DOA board, I forgot I left the pc with the yellow dram light on and went to look up RMA information on my wife's computer.. came back into the room 10~mins later and the stupid thing was sitting in the bios screen... which was  super and all..

so... if you haven't tried it, turn it on and walk away for some time or sit  there... whatever... and see if it eventually boots....

Nvm, funky cable.

Also, as above, memory training takes forever. First boot turn it on and go away for 15 minutes.

I tried this today after going and buying 2 new ram sticks as well to be sure they weren't DOA, left the PC alone for over an hour while we went to dinner, still no result from it. Have also tried with 1 stick in just the A2 slot, didn't work with either one.

Sadly even with new ram sticks and trying just 1 at a time, it isn't getting a display or posting either way, still just a yellow light on the board though

Have you tried re-seating the CPU? If even one memory pin in the CPU socket is out of alignment it won’t boot past memory training.

Well... that stinks...

If this was my build I would do the following before giving up?

1. Reset CMOS

2. reseat cpu as suggested

3. (and sort of a pain ...especially with an AIO.. If you have a Air Cooler that fits this socket around somewhere use that for this step perhaps?)   But disconnect everything take board out of case leave only 1stick of ram and use onboard graphics... put mother board on top of it's box (not on the bag the outside of bag isn't antistatic) hook power cables up and monitor / keyboard and try to power it on this way .. I don't think this board has the super handy little micro pwr / reset switches on the board itself (if I am wrong and it does use those) if not get  a flat screwdriver and briefly tap the power switch pins and it should start.

If step 3 works then it was probably shorting on the case somewhere... so carefully check for standoffs missing / in wrong spot / bend metal...etc find what was shorting.

if none of that works... well... I would try to rma it... (check carefully when removing cpu for reseating that no pins are bent or whatever... and obviously be careful when doing this step in general. )

good luck... may just be a DOA board which stinks but it happens sometimes....

I will try that, but also. So I hadnt really thought about it but the corsair vengeance 2x 16 are 6000mhz, would that make the computer not post? I've seen a lot of people talking about using higher with a 13700k but technically they only support up to 5600 is that right ?

I'll give all of that a go. As I said in the other reply, I have ddr5 6000mhz ram sticks and I think the cpu technically only does up to 5600 but I've seen so many posts from people using higher with a 13700k, that shouldn't make it not run right? I guess I should also potentially try flashing bios or trying to update perhaps when I figure out how to do that without a working system
