Hi, guys! Recently being using my old laptop and wanting to add extra 8 GB stick of RAM. The thing is, I don't know what's the voltage of my existing RAM. There's no information on the stick itself, BIOS is also not providing any info, and HWinfo is able to show frequency and timings, but no voltage as well. The RAM is 8 GB DDR 4, 2133 mhz, CL 15, manufactured by Micron. Is it safe to assume it's 1.2V or can be different voltage?

Do you know the name/model of the laptop? Might be able to find some information about it online. But most likely 1.2V.

If the laptop uses DDR4L, then it's save to assume it uses 1.2V. If it uses standard DDR4, that should also default to 1.2V when running withing JEDEC specs, but may be running up to 1.35V when overclocked (i.e. XMP). Though XMP is somewhat uncommon on laptops.

Thanks for your feedback! The laptop is ASUS F550-VX, in some regions first letter is different. In terms of CPU, 6700HQ supports only up to 2133, so I would assume its base clock. Also, couldn't find any info in BIOS about XMP, so probably is default and won't have issues, if I add second stick of RAM.

2133 MT/s is a JEDEC approved speed for DDR4, so no overclock/XMP needed. I'd say it's safe to go with 1.2V.

You can also usually go to Crucial, they have lists of compatible modules for a lot of notebooks:

https://eu.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/asus/f550vx

Doesn't mean you have to buy from them, but it's fairly safe to assume that whatever modules they offer as upgrade have compatible specs. You can see they're all 1.2V.

Seems like it's 1.2V, thanks again!
