black screen on boot

Go to solution Solved by whispous,

I do have a feeling that this behaviour could indicate a hardware issue.

Do you have a spare GPU, or the chance to borrow a spare one?

Need help. its been sometime since i have been facing this issue again, my pc when i turn it boots to windows but my screen is completely black and i know its booting cuz i hear windows boot audio in my headphone, it happens randomly, i have tried reinstalling drivers and also reinstall windows but still does'nt know what is causing it. It is very random, nothing seems to be fixing it even restart does'nt work. also when it happens the power button light blinks, and no there are no debug leds on my motherboard.

my spec are,

12gen i5 12400f

gigabyte rtx 3070 vision oc 8gb

16 gigs corsair vengeance

1tb 970 evo ssd, 1tb wd hard disc, 256 crusical ssd, evm 256 ssd

Have you tried a different screen?

Also, does the motherboard have any graphics outputs - and are they displaying when the GPU isn't?

Well i have a hdmi output on my motherboard but my cpu is i5 12400f so i dont think it will show an output on screen. The only feed back i get while this issue occurs is a windows boot audio and i also tried blindly opening Spotify to check if it is actually on and ya it does play audio but the screen Is black and my monitor does not detect any signal, and my power Button blink when it occurs otherwise its stays solid white. One more thing it usually occurs when i restart my pc(when valorant has an update it requires a restart of system)

I have a old gtx 970 could try it. If its a hardware problem then it happened before with my old components. The only old components in this pc are my 1 8gb ram stick, hard disc and pc case.

Try it. Good thing to have kept around!

When you were on the old set of components and moved to the new ones, did you wipe and reinstall windows or just keep the old installation?

I wiped my ssd cuz of windows 11 activate stuff, but i didnt knew at that time, i plugged it in with my new mother board. It was bound to my old mother board. I got in touch with a technician and tried my gpu on his pc and his mother board debug led glowed on vga. I tried his gpu on my pc, it worked flawlessly. I am starting to doubt my monitor cuz it zaped me a day ago when i was trying to remove dp cable. Maybe it messed with my gpu. I am lucky that my gpu is still under warranty. Untill then i am using my old crappy 970 with thermal issue. Lets see how fast do i get my replacement. I am still not sure tho so i guess we have to wait till my new gpu arrives.
