PC long distance away

Hi

i am planning to put my PC about 5-7 meters away from my desk, where my monitor and other peripherals are.

I know, that Linus had a "cabinet" and now a "basement" setup with a long distance connection...

 

My question is: What is the cheapest and easiest solution for simple user like me? A thunderbolt PCI-e card / thunderbolt connection or is there a better way to do this? My goal would be to need just one cable between my PC and a docking-station at desk.

do you need to have a single cable solution? if not then there are much cheaper solutions

Literally just long cables

 

An active usb cable will do 10m with ease (powered) and depending on the monitor 10m fot like a 1440p 144hz hdmi cable is easy.

 

Audio? Psshh 10m no problem.

 

So what cables do you need?

Just monitor, audio and some USB connections... so it seems "long (active) cables" are the cheapest and easiest option.

even for linus the one cable solution isnt really the best for that application, now if you wanna connect to a pc thats on the other side of the house, thats where fiber the only option
