Windows transfer

Im upgrading my Motherboard, cpu, gpu, and power supply soon, and was wondering if i can use my hardrive as a storage device to transfer windows. I dont want to have to buy a new key, are there any issues i should worry about?

Is your Windows license tied to a Microsoft account?

If it was a prebuilt computer, and you didn't activate it yourself, then the license is tied to the motherboard, and you will need a need one for the new motherboard, good thing you can get windows keys cheap, or even find for free if you're lucky

Never fails to just link up said motherboard key to a microsoft account, activate it that way and then switch it to local account whenever. Unless if your source for "motherboard key" is an organizational OEM key in which case you are shagged, but youre also most likely bought that from a grey market anyway instead of out of a built PC.

I dont believe so I bought the computer used, and I am planning to upgrade, it was not a prebuilt tho, i bought it from a family friend who built it
