So I recently build a new pc and moved my old (18 month from old pc) HDD to my new pc to move files and games faster and for extra storage.

The problem is that when reading/writing the HDD is making a weird noise and I can't tell if my old fans were just hiding this noise or if something happened in moving the drive to the new case

Case = Corsair 4000D Airflow

HDD = WD2003FZEX-00SRLA0

Following link is video of sound https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AcaOEdJab-eAPWNM79LpNpCLpqrIbxEb/view?usp=drivesdk

Did I mess something up? Can this be fixed?

Sounds like normal HDD head seeking to me.

Different cases transmit/dampen the sound differently.  If the new case is thinner metal and especially if the HDD screws straight into metal, its going to transmit the noise to the entire case.

If this is just normal head seeking, is there anything I can do to reduce this sound as it is much louder irl than through the linked video

Does the drive support aam (automatic acoustic management)? You can check using crystaldiskinfo:

Harddrive worked fine one day, next day having issues : r/datarecovery

It will be listed under features.

If so, you can adjust it by going to Function>Advanced Feature>Aam/Apm control:

Portable CrystalDiskInfo - Download & Review

From there, you can set aam to the quietest setting (80H), then enable aam, and see if that helps:

AAM/APM Control
