Front Case USB Type C Compatibility

Currently building in a Fractal Terra case which has front IO that supports USB 3.2 gen2x2. The motherboard only has a Type C USB 3.2 gen 1 header. Would it still work if I'm okay with 5gbps speeds on the front IO?
