I'll be playing at 1080p 144hz initially, wanting to max everything out as much as I can. Will be upgrading to 1440p sometime down the line. That's the main motivator for going with the 7800 XT, to future-proof.

Looking to keep the budget at or around $1300 CAD.

I'll be buying the parts within the next month, not immediately though unless there are some crazy Black Friday deals coming up.

Everything included in the build I have here is what I need. I've got Windows, another 256 GB NVME, a mouse and a keyboard, and I'm buying a monitor as well but for the build, I'm not including it.

No overclocking.

If I could get a board with WiFi in the build for roughly the same total price, then yeah I'd like that.

I'd like the case to stay mATX.

I'm good for Windows.

Definitely will be upgrading it, but that's a way down the line.

No preference on brand.

Currently, I'm on ~6 year old Asus ultrabook.

Hello, I have been building PCs for over 30 years and I would like to help.

I had to change some things around so that I could fit everything into your budget.

i went with the Ryzen 5 5500. Many people look down on this CPU but I have used several of them and had no issues. Since you are not going to Overclock I got you a A520 Motherboard with WIFI. I was able to find cheaper RAM and a different Case. Since the Case only has 1 Fan included I added a 4 extra Fans. I tried looking for a pack of them but they were more expensive together than getting some singles. Everything else is the same as you had it.

If you have any questions please let me know. I can be reached here or I can be reached much quicker on Discord. Here is my Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772

Any concerns with respect to the generation of processor?

Nah, am4 is probably gonna be supported a bit more, you could also go with a 12400f for ddr5 and a small upgrade path, but its also more expensive

Thanks for the response. I think I’ll stick with the case as I prefer the design, but I’ll swap out the ram. What kind of drop in performance would I expect with the processor?

Not much at all in performance drop. As far as the Deepcool MATREXX 40 goes it is very old, almost 10 years old and it is a pain to build in. It has next to no room for Cable Management. I and others have also cut ourselves on the rough sharp edges on this Case.
