Hello,

I have a Ryzen5600x on a Asus ROG Strix x570-i motherboard with 2x16GB RAM HyperX (HX432C16FBAK2).

For a GPU i have a 3070.

I used the pc mostly for content consumption and some lightweight games (Classic WOW, Overwatch, Heroes of the storm mostly lately).

I have 2 1440p monitors, one is 60Hz and the other one 165Hz with GSync.

Often i get crashes in game, which restart the PC without any notice nor even a blue screen (rarely instead it freezes and i have to use the reset switch).

I have seen that the crash happens more often when i play Hots and I have some stream/youtube playing on the other monitor.
If i enable only one of the monitors and do nothing on the browser, it still happens, but way more rarely.

After lots of frustrations I thought I would start trying to figure out the root cause and the easiest part to change its configuration and check is the RAM.

So I removed one of the RAM sticks from the board and that crash stopped, i tried with the other stick instead to see if that was the faulty one and still the problem is not there.

I moved sticks around to both slots (my MB has only 2) and it is still working with 1 stick in either configuration.

What can the problem be? Anyone has any idea what i should try next?

Is it the motherboard? The CPU memory controller?
Any idea would be greatly appreciated!

Thank

Mcd

When you changed your RAM configuration you probably automatically got rid of RAM settings in bios. I believe I have same or same dram chips in my server and XMP profile was not stable for me at all, I had to manually overclock the rams and manually tighten timings myself to get it to be stable.

I haven't updated the Bios in a long time.
For the chipset the version in Device Manager doesn't match at all what ASUS has in their support page of the MB.
I have in AMD SMBus driver version 5.12.0.38 and in the website it is V4.07.13.2243
No idea what MPO is or where to set it or check what it is set to, so the default?

Sorry if i m not helping much. Do you think updating Bios and drivers might fix this ?

That doesn't look to be the case. In Windows i could see 3200 as its speed even after removing one stick.
Should i disable XMP and see if that fixes it with 2 sticks? Might be a stability issue as you say. In that case would you suggest a RAM update?
