tl;dr: You probably don't need one.

 

Max out RAM first if you're concerned, but basically a home user (or even most business/industrial data storage applications) won't ever benefit from it. It's really only useful if you have a single random-access data-source that's larger than the system RAM allocation.

As stated above, you probably don’t need L2arc. 
 

What is your networking speed, what is the use case of this file server, what are its hardware specs? All of this is extremely important information for us to help you with this.
