Hi,

I am planning to upgrade my GPU to a rx 6800 with a 5600x. I have 2 PSU options:

1. Corsair RM650

2. Be quiet pure power 12m 550W

Both are the same price. I was tending towards the corsair due to 100 watts more power. But the be quite is ATX3.0 and therefore should be fine with my combination despite the 550 watt rating.

Which one should I choose?

The be quiet psu would be more future proof I guess? That ATX3.0 standard could be handy in future upgrades.

And it can handle gpus with up to 300 watts power usage. The 6800 is rated at max 250W.
In this case the be quiet seems the better choice or is the corsair still the better choice with the 650W but ATX2.53 standard?

on the psu tier list they are both in rank A so i think  the best choice would be to go for the rm650

Keep in mind that power spikes can be up to 250W above average under load - 550W PSU is going to crash on you from time to time, I guarantee it. 650W is cutting it close

You'd be surprised what a good PSU will handle. Keep in mind you're basically never going to have CPU and GPU at full utilization.

The CPU in this was swapped out for a 12900k for a while before I went back to full ATX cases and power supplies.... The power difference between a 5800x and 6800xt or a 12900k and a 6800 xt and a 5600x and a 6800 is more than 50W 😉

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Better platform, better quality and a lot better fan. The fannoise of the RMe is annoying.

The 2019 RM650 had a 140mm fan. There is a new revision of the rm650 which has a 120mm fan now. Probably the same used in the RMe ones.

Seems like the complete unit of the CP-9020280 is RMe.

WTF. New CX650 is a relabeled CV650! https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/psu/cp-9020278-na/cx-series-cx650-650-watt-80-plus-bronze-atx-power-supply-cp-9020278-na That's a huge downgrade.
