Hi, I am in need of a new GPU for my PC but unsure what would be the best suited for my setup. My use case is for gaming only. Was thinking 3080 but I'm unsure if 40 series would be a better option? Thanks

ASUS stix 570-e mobo

32gb RAM

850w PSU

it depends. the 3080 is still a very very good card. I have a 3080 and it plays everything amazingly. but it depends what what your wanting to spend on a gpu too.

the 40 series cost a lot more. and you would getting better performance to $ if you were to get a 3080 as the 40's cost a lot more

getting a used 3080 would be the best deal but 40's isn't bad either its just kinda on what you want to spend on one

the 4070 performs similar to a 3080 but the 3080 will cost less the 4070. but the a new 4070 costs about what my 3080 did brand new so.

Since this is a pure gaming use case, time to shill recommend AMD GPUs...

The closest equivalents to the RTX 3080 on the red side would be the RX 6800 XT and the RX 7800 XT, according to Techpowerup relative performance. And since this is AMD we're talking about, they're somewhat cheaper than the 3080, depending on your place...

What is your budget, and what resoultion is your monitor?

People, please correct me if im wrong, but can't you stick a 4090 into that setup without leaving too much performance on the table?

It will be massive overkill in most cases, but if money is not a limiting factor...? 😉

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

I recomend an nvidia gpu ive had and amd one before snd i cannot stress enough how hard it is just to get drivers downloaded if money isn't a limitation then i would suggest a rtx 3090 founders edition beutifull card amazing performance at 4k max settings but if you specifically want ray tracing i recomend a 40 series card but you might need to upgrade your psu for that idk
