By not increasing voltage, do you mean you left the voltage values on auto or set a static voltage for what was stock? If it's at auto, then the voltage value increased when you increased the clock speed. 

 

As for whether 5.8GHz is good, depends on how you stress tested. If it's just in Cinebench, it's about average. If it's Prime95 stable, then that's a pretty good chip.
