PC cabinet rust problem

Amzad

The top of the computer case is rusted. The computer case is made of spcc metal.  Is there any solution for this which will not rust or grow in future.

short is there a permanent solution????

This is not my case.  Someone else had this problem in their case.  But I want to know the solution since it can happen to any computer case.

Completely disassemble the PC, sand the rust down, spray it with rust reformer, then with high-build primer, then top coat with spray paint designed to bond with metal.

Will I get permanent solution if I follow the steps?

I had another question, can I use the primer used in the window grill on the computer case?

It should be, unless you put the paint on too thin and humidity gets through it.

Mask off the grille so you don't get paint on it. Paint will just clog it up.

Sorry my English is not  good so I could not understand if I can use the primer or not.

Can I use the primer below?

If it's made for metal, yes.

Don't paint the window grill. The paint will easily clog the holes up. Just paint the solid parts.

ND is correct. Those instructions, with adequate use of the rust "reformer", primer and paint will stop the rust and keep it away.

The reformer stops the rust growth.

The primer makes the surface of reformer able to bond easily with paint. It also helps to protect the metal as an additional barrier.

The paint is for aesthetics and a final barrier. Choose any color, paint it how you like, but just make sure to do this to all of the SPCC on both sides. If the mesh is the same material then you'll need to work carefully to protect it without clogging it. If you can't, you'll have to accept it, replace the mesh or get another case.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
