So, I've really been into simulation/world building games for a while now. I guess it really kicked up in the early days of minecraft (alpha and such), but I've been craving new things to try out and pour days of gameplay into.

Some examples of titles I've put 40hrs+ into recently:

  • Prison Architect
  • Minecraft (modded of course)
  • Banished
  • Don't Starve
  • Kerbal Space Program
  • Factorio
  • Space Engineers
  • Garry's Mod
  • SimCity 4

I'm a bit put off with games such as Rust just for the "over-hyped game" nature of the player base, and frankly I think the whole survival (usually including zombies) genre is a bit over-saturated at the moment.

Is there anyone else who really gets into games like these and has any other good ones to suggest? Yogscast Sips just started series for Factorio, so I tried picking it up (and loved it greatly). Despite it being an alpha game, I found it to be very enjoyable, which makes me think there might be other titles out there I've never heard of like it.

Euro Truck Simulator 2

I appreciate the suggestion, but I drive enough as it is. It doesn't have to bleed into my off time gaming too  :P

Yeah I could try that. It's been a while since I did a Sims game, and EA kind of burned me with the new SimCity (yes, I was one of those poor souls who got it for launch week) so I've been reluctant to try.
