A few months ago I built a budget gaming pc for around $600. I got a FX-6300 processor and decided to overclock it. It is my first time overclocking and I watched and read many tutorials. When I was ready to start overclocking I first started CPU-Z, CoreTemp, and prime95 to run on my cpu at stock first. For some reason Core temp saids my tjmax is 52 degrees?? I started prime95 and watched as my cpu reached 50 degrees and I stopped it not knowing what would happen if it hit 52. If someone could help explain this problem to me it would be much appreciated.

I have attached a screenshot of coretemp

the only advice I can give you is that you should try another program to control temperature, with my system core temp is totally unreliable. Try "hardware monitor" or "speedfan", they should be more accurate.

You're not using the stock cooler are you? That's not a good idea.

Try HWmonitor.
