as soon as i try to install Ubuntu  after the grub menu the install goes to a black screen frozen.  why?

Hi buddy,

Is Ubuntu the only OS on the system?

Have you tried recreating the install media? Could be a dodgy USB or ISO.

Try another distro? Download and try and install Mint. Does is get passed the Grub menu?

Does Windows Install?

Is your PC overclocked? If yes, revert back to stock settings and see what happens.

Is XMP / DOCP / Expo enabled in BIOS? Disable it if yes.

There are many possible reasons but the most common are either a bad installation medium or missing/incompatible gpu drivers, the latter is more likely to be the case if you have a very old or very new gpu.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

yes i  tried other distors such as linux mint and batocera and two versions of ubuntu. i tried it with etcher and rufus. i tried differ usb ports, and with other usb flash drive.  they all hang an install.

the only distro that installed correctly was Kali
and im on windows 11 beta

Which GPU do you have before we discuss drivers and the complex task of creating a driver, if that driver does not exist.

Have you pulled the GPU out and attempted an install with the integrated GPU?

i stated the system is a  laptop

A laptop doesn’t mean much either, as there’s dozens of hardware configurations available from each manufacturer. And that’s just new laptops, not counting any of them over the years in the mix.

Do you know the specs of this device?

after reviewing my original post i realized i made a mistake and i did not include the specs.  i was mistaked because on the Tom hardware forum  i did post my specs.

Since it's an AMD with no Nvidia GPU it should work out of the box. What version of Ubuntu are you using?
