I've had a VA panel monitor for quite a while now, and i've been very pleased with it (smearing is a bit annoying but fine overall) (AOC). I'm looking to upgrade to a 27" WQHD one, but am not sure if i should pick a VA again or go with an IPS this time. Here are some options i'm considering:
IPS: 1. LG  27GN800-B    2. AOC Q27G2S/EU
VA: 1. AOC Q27G2U/BK   2.ASUS TUF Gaming VG27WQ1B

What do you think? Is VA to IPS worst than the opposite or better?

IPS will be strikingly better looking to you coming from VA cause the colors are very accurate and bright.

What are you going to do with this monitor? Whats your budget? Is there anything about a monitor you wont compromise on? For example for you it MUST have speakers.

From what I've read and seen test done, IPS is the pick 90% of the time for 90% of users for 90% of the content they'll be watching. My main fears of VA would be their GTG slow smearing, really bad in some models and makes gaming a subpar experience.

250 (euros) give or take. I'm gonna be using it mainly for gaming (both competitive and singleplayer). I don't really have anything i don't compromise on.

edit: do you think contrast will be a deal breaker for a VA user?

Does AOC have good IPS panels in your experience?

Not brand by brand. As a general rule I'd pick IPS but the moment the discussion starts  about panels, you need to look at each monitor individually. Its panel supplier, the coating, backlighting and so on.

It could be if you did some type of work that needs blacks to be deep black for accuracies sake, but in your case i think youll be happier with the accurate color and the wide viewing angle with no distortion till you fall off the chair.😉 IPS does blacks, but they are barely black. Most run the monitor at maybe half its brightness, which can help a bunch with blacks and it will stop your eyes from turning into omelets. Go to your local electronics store and see what they got for you to test out and look at. Of course, its nothing like when you get it on your equipment at your house, but itll get you in the ballpark at least, right?

As far as brands id just stay away from Gigabyte, cause their warranty process is a crime and for me personally Samsung cause they never last, no matter what panel tech it is. Ive been thru 3 with the latest being a 55" TV. I take care of my stuff and have parts going back 20 years that work just fine. I got a AOC 2367fh that i used for 10 years and its STILL going, so its them, its not me.

I have never understood this statement.
On AOC monitor there's option for Game Color which makes colors more brighter/more collory(?) + in NVIDIA settings you can turn up color settings If needed. (monitor Game Color settings is plenty)
Additionally to that I love Shadow Control option which makes shadows/darker spots more darker which makes games at nights soo immersive!
Proud AOC user / fanboy. At the moment using  AOC CU34G2X, 34*, 1ms, VA, 144 Hz, 3440x1440
Personally my settings are 90 brightness and contrast, 18 Game Color and Shadow Control at 30 or 40 depending on game. The quality looks crisp clear for me.
Previously I have tried IPS monitor - GIGABYTE M32Q, didn't see any difference in colors while gaming.

There is nothing about an IPS monitor that makes it inherently more accurate. It might hit higher color saturation, that doesn't mean it's accurate though. For your budget you're pretty much limited to VA if you're shopping for a 27" or 32" 1440p monitor. Have a look at this video:

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

For gaming (especially FPS games) I would go IPS over VA any day. IPS also have lower input lag. I would only go with the LG monitor if using the list. I got one with same panel and it's been solid.
