Boot time is slow

Got a M.2 NVME Samsung 980 ssd, it would boot like 15-17 seconds with fast startup off and 13 with fast startup on in windows, it literally takes 25 seconds to boot now and ive felt it boot a slight slower recently, ive checked everything in youtube on how to fix this issue but to no avail found no fix

Also my "Last bios time" is 8.5 seconds, is this high? if yes then how to fix it

What's the rest of the specs?

 

There are BIOS options that affect the Bios time.

There are boot items that slow down the Windows boot, like startup programs, and you can use the Task Manager and Autoruns to play with those.

i mean i have my OS on a P5 plus, running unbelievably well once booted up and initialized, everything loads fast and is crisp, but bios time is over 30 seconds, but like, im just waiting an extra 10/20 seconds for my computer to load, i could troubleshoot the issue, but...eh, it doesnt bother me, its not a whole lot of time wasted

Ryzen 3 3200g (gonna be upgrading to a ryzen 5 5600x in the coming weeks) gtx 1650, gigabyte b450m ds3h wifi 2x8gb 2666mhz ram stick (upgrading to a 3600mhz and to 32gb ram in the next couple weeks)

Only my antivirus and the realtek audio drivers are the one that start in the startup

Get a 5600 non-X, should be cheaper but performs roughly the same. Or the 5700X.

 

Are you using the latest Bios? If not, flash the latest.

Yes currently at the latest, updated the bios like a month back

Also should I consider updating my samsung ssd firmware and see if it helps? Also is updating the samsung ssd firmware safe?

Yes. It should be safe. Just use Samsung Magician, it will tell you everything.

Was about to do the samsung firmware update but something kept bugging me of temp issues or problems coming after the firmware update. I found a lot of posts on reddit about the 2B4QFXO7 firmware update and exact same ssd model and size as mine where ppl's ssd is at 85C and stuff after the firmware update

Not familiar with that. What are your temps now and how are you cooling the SSD?

Ok wait i spoke a bit soon there is another firmware that fixes that issue! I got no heatsink in my ssd but it runs cool at about 35-41C, will give an update in a bit

Alright, done updating the firmware can feel some performance changes and the boot time has reduced to maybe 20 secs now but still not much. Worst case scenario is reinstalling OS. Thanks for help but I think lets call it a day and end this topic. Atleast this boot time beats the HDD boot time. Anyways thanks!

Well, you can always check your Windows for issues and repair them, don't just reinstall Windows without a fight.

Do these two commands in Command Prompt with Admin rights, or Power Shell as Admin or Windows Terminal:

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

SFC /scannow

I feel like this is just normal for Windows. I have a Ryzen 2500U laptop with an old SATA SSD running Manjaro, that boots faster than my Windows desktop with 5600X and NVMe SSD.

 

When the Windows install was fresh, it'd boot up nearly instantaneously. Now it takes a good while.

Yeah im planning to fresh install windows 11, while backing up some important files. I had actually upgraded from windows 10 to windows 11, as most videos had told that it is better to fresh install and I may get slow boot times or issues which I am facing rn. But maybe in the coming weeks I will fresh install windows 11. Plus ive seen videos on how to fresh install windows 11 without bloatware and without any 3rd party software.
