Help with Windows not allowing me to transfer my files

Callum_804

Hi All,

I've recently gotten a new computer and as such am trying to transfer a lot of my old data between the two. My first attempt was to take the SSD out of the old computer, hook it up to the new one using a USB to SATA connector and then just transfer across, however this didn't work due to permissions so I gave up and put the SSD back into the old computer, before powering it back up  to try and transfer it all onto a USB drive. Unfortunately windows seems to have other ideas and has basically removed me from being the administrator of my own files. The files are still there, some can be transferred, others need Admin permissions to transfer (which I can give) and others just flat out refuse to be transferred. Could anyone give me any help here as to how I can basically tell windows to ignore all of this, and just let me access the files as before.

Thanks

Callum

Instead of moving the files, have you tried just copying them over?
